Job Description
We're a plumbing company that needs a WordPress developer to build our new website from scratch and maintain it long-term. The site needs to handle customer bookings, scheduling, and service requests while looking professional and loading fast.
You'll build a custom WordPress site with online booking functionality integrated with our calendar system. The site needs appointment scheduling where customers can book plumbers for specific time slots, service request forms that route to our dispatch system, mobile-responsive design that works perfectly on phones since most customers browse on mobile, fast loading speeds and SEO optimization to rank locally, payment integration for deposits or full service payments, and an admin panel where our team can manage bookings and availability. After launch, you'll handle ongoing maintenance including plugin updates, security patches, performance optimization, and adding new features as we grow.
We need someone with at least 3 years building WordPress sites professionally, not just using page builders. You must have experience with React and Next.js for building custom components and integrations. Strong PHP skills are required for custom WordPress development and plugin customization. You need proven experience integrating booking systems like Calendly, Acuity Scheduling, or similar platforms into WordPress. Knowledge of WooCommerce for payment processing is essential. You should be skilled in JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3 for frontend development. Experience with MySQL database management and optimization is required. Understanding of WordPress security best practices, caching, and CDN implementation is necessary. You must know Git for version control and have experience with hosting platforms like WP Engine or SiteGround.
