Job Description
An engineering team of eight developers shipping across two products — solid technical skills, good people, and a development process that's never been properly structured. Sprints exist in name but not in practice, retrospectives don't happen, backlog refinement is reactive, and nobody is facilitating the removal of blockers. Velocity is unpredictable as a result.
We need a Scrum Master to bring real agile practice to how the team operates — not to enforce process for its own sake, but to help the team ship more predictably and feel less chaotic doing it.
- Facilitating sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives — making sure they're effective, not just calendar entries that drain energy
- Protecting the team from scope creep and unplanned interruptions during active sprints
- Identifying and removing impediments — following up on blockers so the team doesn't have to chase resolution themselves
- Working with the product owner on backlog health — ensuring the top of the backlog is always refined, estimated, and ready to pull
- Tracking sprint metrics — velocity, cycle time, and impediment trends — and using them to drive ongoing process improvement
- Coaching team members on agile principles and helping the team continuously improve how it works together
CSM or PSM certification preferred. Background working with engineering teams in a SaaS or software product environment is required. Experience helping teams transition from informal to structured agile practice is a strong advantage.
