Real Estate Bookkeeper
Property Management Accounting Specialist

Position Context

This role manages financial operations for residential and commercial property portfolios, focusing on rental income, property expenses, and investment performance tracking.

Income Management

  • Process rental payments from tenants
  • Track security deposits and refunds
  • Record late fees and penalties
  • Reconcile rental income statements
  • Manage lease-related revenue

Expense Processing

  • Pay property maintenance invoices
  • Process utility and service bills
  • Handle property tax payments
  • Manage insurance premium payments
  • Track capital improvement costs

Property Portfolio Accounting

  • Maintain separate accounts for each property
  • Track depreciation schedules for assets
  • Prepare property performance reports
  • Calculate net operating income (NOI)
  • Monitor cash flow across properties

Software & Systems

Primary work conducted in QuickBooks with property management system integrations. Experience with real estate accounting software considered advantageous.

Reporting Requirements

  • Monthly profit/loss statements per property
  • Quarterly portfolio performance summaries
  • Annual tax preparation documentation
  • Owner distribution calculations
  • Budget variance analysis
This position requires attention to detail, understanding of real estate accounting principles, and proficiency with US accounting standards.
