Python Backend Developer

An API-first platform used by developers and data teams to process and analyze large volumes of structured data in real time. The backend is Python-based, running on AWS, with a PostgreSQL core and several microservices that have grown organically over the past three years. Performance and reliability are non-negotiable for the customer base.

We need a backend developer who is genuinely strong in Python and interested in the infrastructure problems that come with building at scale — not someone who wants to do a bit of backend work between frontend tasks.

Stack and what you'll own

• Building and maintaining REST APIs in Python using FastAPI and Django — clean, versioned, and documented
• Designing and optimizing PostgreSQL schemas and queries as data volumes and query complexity grow
• Building data ingestion and transformation pipelines that handle significant throughput reliably
• Working with AWS — Lambda, S3, SQS, RDS — to build scalable and cost-efficient backend infrastructure
• Writing tests, maintaining CI/CD pipelines, and contributing to code quality standards across the team
• Diagnosing and resolving production issues — reading logs, profiling performance, fixing root causes not symptoms

4+ years of Python backend development in production is required. FastAPI or Django experience strongly preferred. Strong PostgreSQL — not just basic queries. Docker and Kubernetes familiarity expected.
