Medical billing and coding specialist

Job Summary:
We are a healthcare revenue cycle management company seeking an experienced Medical Billing Specialist. You will be responsible for managing the full claim lifecycle for our clients, from coding to payment posting, using cloud-based practice management software.

Responsibilities:

• Review patient charts and assign accurate ICD-10 and CPT codes for services rendered
• Submit clean electronic claims to insurance payers via clearinghouse
• Post insurance payments and patient payments in practice management system
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims within timely filing deadlines
• Work aging reports and reconcile accounts receivable
• Communicate with insurance companies via online portals for claim status
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations

Requirements:

• 1+ years of medical billing experience in a US healthcare setting
• CPC, CBCS, or similar certification preferred but not required
• Proficiency with at least one major PM system (e.g., Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, NextGen, Kareo)
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS coding guidelines
• Experience with ERA (Electronic Remittance Advice) and EOBs
• Familiarity with payer portals (Availity, Navinet) for claim research
• Available to work during US business hours (EST or CST)
• Quiet home office with reliable high-speed internet

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with specialty billing (Behavioral Health, Dermatology, Cardiology)
• Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid billing guidelines
• Experience with credentialing providers with insurance panels
