Business Operations & Growth Manager
Johan Lindberg
$700 - $800
per month
Job Description
Help build the future of compassionate leadership in healthcare.
We work with NHS organisations and healthcare leaders to embed compassion into everyday practice, helping healthcare workers thrive. Our flagship programme supports nurse and midwife leaders in developing more reflective, connected, and compassionate team cultures.
This is a chance to join a growing, mission-driven business at a pivotal stage — shaping systems, influencing how we operate, contributing ideas, and seeing the direct impact of your work. If you thrive on variety, autonomy, and meaningful work in healthcare, this could be the right fit.
About the Role
We're a UK-based business led by a clinical psychologist, working alongside a small team of nurses and another psychologist. We provide coaching, consultation, and training to health and care organisations.
You'll work closely with the founder — helping bring ideas to life while also owning projects independently. The founder is genuinely invested in the wellbeing of the team, not just the output.
Our Direction for 2026
Our focus this year is marketing and scaling our flagship 12-month development programme for nurses, which teaches skills to support colleague wellbeing. With funding and demand already in place, we're aiming to expand reach nationally, then internationally.
We need an Operations and Growth Manager to help drive this next stage — a role split roughly 60% operations (keeping programmes and business running smoothly) and 40% growth (identifying and pursuing new opportunities).
This isn't a role where tasks are handed to you daily. We want someone who takes ownership, improves systems proactively, and moves the business forward — someone who asks "how could this be better?" rather than "what do you want me to do next?"
Hours & Arrangements
20 hours/week with flexible scheduling, but availability is needed during UK mornings through early afternoon. You'll have a weekly meeting with the founder, plus onboarding training and ongoing support.
Contract Type
This is a self-employed subcontractor role. You'll invoice monthly for hours worked and are responsible for your own taxes and legal obligations in your country of residence.
This Role Suits You If You...
- Enjoy figuring things out independently
- Spot opportunities others miss
- Like organising complex projects and making them run smoothly
- Prefer improving systems over just following them
- Enjoy digging into data and feedback to improve a service
- Are comfortable using AI in your everyday work
- Take initiative naturally
- Communicate confidently and professionally
- Work well with a high degree of autonomy
This Role Probably Isn't For You If...
- You need detailed instructions before starting
- You enjoy admin but not systems improvement
- You're design-minded but not numbers-minded
- You'd rather execute others' ideas than generate your own
- Ambiguity makes you uncomfortable
- You're not interested in using AI to improve your workflow
Operations Responsibilities
Primarily centered on running our flagship programme, which operates like a B2B membership — onboarding organisational clients across three launch windows per year, with participants moving through 6- and 12-month tracks of support and training.
- Managing participant onboarding and enrolment; building systems to monitor and boost engagement; liaising with partner organisations
- Maintaining our LMS platform, including internal pages and on-demand courses
- Supporting programme launches
- Monitoring engagement and flagging participants who may need extra support
- Building better systems for collecting participant data and feedback
- Managing business systems and administration
- Coordinating bookings and logistics for coaching and workshops
- Continuously improving operational systems as we grow
Growth Responsibilities
Once you're up to speed on the business and programme, you'll have protected weekly time for growth work, such as:
- Following up warm leads
- Leveraging our existing network and client relationships
- Building relationships with NHS decision-makers
- Supporting LinkedIn outreach
- Researching opportunities using AI and traditional search
- Improving customer journeys
- Spotting opportunities we haven't yet identified
- Bringing ideas to weekly meetings
How We'll Measure Success
Rather than tracking completed tasks, we'll look at how you're helping the business become stronger, more organised, and better positioned to grow.
Operations success looks like:
- Smooth cohort launches and a strong participant experience
- Clear visibility into engagement, with proactive support for those who need it
- Issues caught and resolved before they escalate
- Increasingly organised, documented, efficient systems
- The founder spending less time on day-to-day coordination because you've taken ownership
Growth success looks like:
- Warm leads consistently followed up
- Existing contracts renewed and expanded
- Meaningful conversations initiated with prospective organisations
- AI used effectively to boost efficiency and generate ideas
- New opportunities researched and proactively surfaced
- Ongoing improvement to customer journeys and systems
- Practical ideas regularly brought to meetings and turned into action
Initiative matters most here. Success sounds like: "I noticed something we could improve," "I've drafted a system for us to review," "I spotted a pattern in engagement data," or "I think this could be a growth opportunity." Not every idea will be implemented — what matters is consistent curiosity and proactivity.
Performance Reviews & Bonus
Regular informal check-ins plus a structured review every six months, covering your contribution, development, and priorities. A discretionary bonus is available for exceptional contribution to growth, systems, and long-term development.
Experience, Skills & Mindset
We're more interested in mindset than a perfect résumé. Healthcare or B2B experience is helpful but not required. Given the autonomy involved, we're looking for someone who's already shown they can own outcomes and improve systems.
We'd love to hear from you if you have experience:
- Working remotely with significant autonomy
- Managing multiple projects or priorities simultaneously
- Spotting ways to improve processes rather than just following them
- Working closely with a founder or senior leadership
- Communicating professionally with clients or customers
- Using AI thoughtfully to improve your work
Software & Digital Skills
We'll support you in learning new tools, but you should be confident with technology generally and comfortable picking up new software independently. Useful experience includes:
- Professional email and document writing (in your own voice, not AI-generated)
- Excel/Google Sheets for organising, analysing, and presenting data
- Project management tools (Trello, Asana, ClickUp, or similar)
- Canva or similar design tools
- AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini)
- CRM, email marketing, or customer management software
- LMS platforms (a plus, not essential)
Our Recruitment Process
We know job applications take time and effort, and we appreciate every one we receive. Rather than relying solely on a traditional interview, our process is designed to understand how you naturally think, solve problems, and communicate.
