Job Description

A U.S. personal injury law firm is hiring a Legal Assistant to support attorneys and case managers and to keep every client file moving. You'll be a steady point of contact for injured clients and make sure cases are organized, documented, and ready for the next step.

Responsibilities

  • Handle new client intake: gather case details, complete intake forms, and route potential cases to the right attorney.
  • Draft and send client letters, insurance correspondence, and routine legal documents for attorney review.
  • Request, collect, and organize medical records, bills, police reports, and other case documentation.
  • Maintain case files and update the case management system with notes, deadlines, and status changes.
  • Keep clients informed of case progress and answer routine questions by phone and email.
  • Track medical treatment, records requests, and outstanding documents, and follow up until received.
  • Calendar deadlines, appointments, and hearings, and remind attorneys of upcoming dates.
  • Support settlement and demand preparation by assembling records and summarizing key information.
  • Protect client confidentiality and follow firm procedures at all times.

Requirements

  • Experience as a legal assistant, paralegal, or legal intake specialist, ideally in personal injury.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and records.
  • Experience with case management software such as Clio, Filevine, or similar.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, with strong drafting and proofreading skills.
  • Compassionate, professional communication with clients who are dealing with injuries.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines independently.
  • Reliable internet connection and a quiet, private workspace.
