Insurance Verification Specialist

We're hiring an Insurance Verification Specialist to verify patient coverage and benefits for US medical and dental practices. This is a detail-critical role — accurate verification is what keeps claims clean, patients informed, and the practice paid — so we're looking for someone experienced who works carefully and independently.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient insurance coverage, eligibility, and benefits with carriers ahead of appointments
• Confirm plan details: deductibles, copays, coinsurance, out-of-pocket maximums, and coverage limitations
• Contact insurance companies by phone and through online portals
• Determine patient responsibility and document it clearly for the front office
• Obtain prior authorizations and referrals when required
• Update and maintain accurate insurance information in the practice system
• Flag coverage issues or discrepancies before the date of service
• Communicate clearly with the office team on verification status

Requirements

• Prior experience with insurance verification for US medical or dental practices
• Familiarity with commercial, PPO, HMO, Medicare, and/or Medicaid plans
• Understanding of insurance terminology (deductibles, coinsurance, prior auth, etc.)
• Experience with practice management or EHR systems (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft, athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or similar)
• Comfortable navigating carrier portals and calling insurance companies directly
• Strong attention to detail and accurate data entry
• Awareness of HIPAA and patient confidentiality
• Clear spoken and written English
• Reliable internet, a quiet workspace, and availability during US business hours
