Job Description

We're a subscription-based business looking for a Chargeback Prevention Analyst to help reduce disputes before they happen. This role is proactive by design — rather than responding to chargebacks after the fact, you'll be identifying and addressing risk before a transaction ever becomes a dispute.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor transactions for fraud or risk indicators before chargebacks occur
  • Review and flag at-risk subscriptions or orders proactively
  • Analyze patterns in past chargebacks to catch similar risk factors earlier
  • Recommend and implement preventive measures, such as clearer billing descriptors, pre-dunning alerts, or added verification steps
  • Work with customer support to resolve billing confusion before it turns into a dispute
  • Track chargeback rate trends and report on the effectiveness of prevention efforts
  • Watch for compromised cards, subscription abuse, or repeat offenders
  • Coordinate with payment processors on risk tools and alerts (Verifi, Ethoca, or similar)

Requirements

  • Experience with chargeback or dispute management, ideally within a subscription business
  • Solid understanding of fraud indicators and risk scoring
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to spot patterns in transaction data
  • Familiarity with chargeback prevention tools (Verifi, Ethoca, Chargebacks911, or similar)
  • Experience working with payment processors such as Stripe or PayPal
  • Strong attention to detail
