Bookkeeper - Construction & Renovation Finance

Australian renovation company managing multiple projects simultaneously needs experienced bookkeeper tracking finances across residential and commercial jobs. You will handle all financial record-keeping ensuring accurate project costing, vendor payments, and client invoicing while maintaining clean books for tax compliance.

Financial management responsibilities

• Track income and expenses for each renovation project separately maintaining individual job costing
• Process accounts payable paying contractors, suppliers, and vendors on schedule
• Manage accounts receivable invoicing clients and following up on outstanding payments
• Reconcile bank accounts and credit cards monthly ensuring all transactions recorded accurately
• Monitor project budgets comparing actual costs against estimates flagging overruns early
• Prepare financial reports showing profitability by project and overall company performance
• Handle payroll for employees ensuring correct tax withholdings and superannuation contributions
• Maintain organized records of receipts, invoices, and contracts for audit readiness
• Coordinate with accountant during tax season providing necessary documentation
• Track materials costs and labor expenses attributing them to correct projects

Construction bookkeeping expertise required

5+ years bookkeeping experience specifically in construction, renovation, or trades businesses understanding job costing principles. Proficiency with accounting software like QuickBooks, Xero, or MYOB managing multiple projects simultaneously. Knowledge of Australian tax requirements including GST, PAYG, and superannuation obligations. Experience with progress billing and retention payments common in construction contracts. Strong attention to detail catching discrepancies between quotes, purchase orders, and actual costs. Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial managers. Organized approach keeping documents filed systematically for easy retrieval. Understanding of construction terminology and how renovation projects flow financially from quote to completion.

Remote position earning $1000-1500 monthly based on experience level.
